An elderly woman has been injured after a crash wiped out a lamppost in Trowbridge.

Emergency services were called to County Way at around 11.30am today (Thursday).

A two-vehicle road traffic collision – involving a Ford Fiesta and Toyota Aygo – saw a lamppost and electrical box demolished.

The damaged Ford was cordoned off due to exposed electrics

The driver of the Ford – a woman, aged in her 80s – sustained injuries and was taken to hospital. She isn’t believed to have suffered any serious injuries.

Firefighters attended the scene to make the area safe, with Wiltshire Council also informed.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “At around 11.30am this morning (22/05) we responded following a collision between a Ford Fiesta and Toyota Aygo in County Way, Trowbridge.

“The driver of the Ford, a woman in her 80s, was taken to hospital with injuries which aren’t thought to be serious.”
