A young father was found hanged in a Swindon woodland over the weekend.

Police responded to reports of a body suspended in a tree near Groundwell Industrial Estate, off Cricklade Road, at around 5pm on Saturday (12 March).

The ambulance service pronounced the 25-year-old, from Swindon, dead at the scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service attended to provide assistance in recovering his body.

Forensics and detectives from Swindon CID attended the incident, with a crime scene in place for a short time while police worked to gather evidence and rule out foul play.

Wiltshire Police confirmed they were called to reports that a “man had been found hanging in woodland off Hargreaves Road”.

“The 25-year-old man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene”, a spokesperson said.

Adding that there are “not believed to be any suspicious circumstances”.

The man’s next of kin have been informed.
