Emergency services rushed to gas leak in Swindon this morning (Friday).

Fire crews were called to Southwold Close in Oakhurst following a report of groundworkers hitting a gas pipe at around 9.20am.

Police and the ambulance service were also deployed due to the potential risk of explosion.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “The first attending appliance arrived on scene within five minutes of booking mobile to the incident confirmed a gas pipe leading to the property was damaged during ground works.

“The gas board checked over the property and neighbouring property and deemed them both safe for the occupants.”
