An emergency rescue operation was carried out after a person fell into a cellar.
Emergency services were called to the serious incident in High Street, Amesbury, shortly after midday today (Monday).
South Western Ambulance Service said it sent one double-crewed ambulance and an operations officer and assessed the one casualty.
They remained on scene for some hours, with Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service (DWFRS) deployed to provide assistance at 2.30pm.
With two crews – from Amesbury and Salisbury – and a technical rescue team from Eastleigh, Hampshire in attendance – a rescue commenced.
A spokesperson for DWFRS told of how the casualty was “brought to safety using rope rescue techniques”.
They were handed over to the ambulance service, and conveyed to Salisbury District Hospital for treatment.
Wiltshire 999s understands the incident was ongoing for more than three hours.
It’s not clear how the person came to fall into the cellar, or at which property it happened.
