Wiltshire Police says officers have arrested an elderly man on suspicion of stalking a schoolgirl in various locations around Swindon.
The 13-year-old victim has reported being followed by a man driving a vehicle on a number of occasions whilst in the Penhill, Pinehurst, Moredon, Rodbourne and Cheney Manor areas.
Whilst the suspect – driving a small silver car – didn’t approach or hurt her at any point, his behaviour has made her feel frightened and threatened.
An 81-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of stalking but has since been released on conditional bail while police continue their investigation.
“While we have made an arrest as part of our investigation, we need to speak to any potential witnesses who may be able to assist us”, Local Crime Investigator Hayley Beales said.
Adding: “This young girl has been made to feel very afraid by the behaviour of this man and this has been a repeated pattern of behaviour over a period of time.
