An elderly man has suffered ‘possibly life-changing’ injures in a crash on the A346.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the major route connecting Swindon with Marlborough at around 6.20pm yesterday (Tuesday, 26 November).
Two vehicles were involved in the incident, with one – a Ford Tourneo van – leaving the carriageway and overturning, according to a witness at the scene.
The Ford driver, a man aged in his 80s, sustained serious and “possibly life changing” injuries.
A woman aged in her 60s, driving a Nissan Quashqai, was also injured but not significantly.
The impact is understood to have occurred near to the Dukesmead Kennels & Cattery.
The road was closed in both directions for forensic collision investigation work until around 3pm today (Wednesday).
In a statement, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision involving two vehicles on the A346, Ogbourne St George yesterday evening (26/11).
“The two vehicles collided at around 6.20pm close to the minor junction by Whitefield Farm.
“A man in his 80s was taken to hospital with suspected serious injuries, possibly life changing.
“A woman in her 60s was also taken to hospital to be treated for injuries not thought to be life threatening or life changing.
