A duo accused of seriously wounding a man in an attack in Chippenham are to face a judge.

Louis Hall, 21, and Jack Gal, 23, are jointly charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent.

At Swindon Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday), prosecutor Asha Seenauth said the case must be sent to Swindon Crown Court due to the seriousness of the alleged offences.

It’s claimed the men attacked a 28-year-old man in Foghamshire, off The Bridge in Chippenham town centre, in the early hours of 23 January last year.

At the time, it was documented that the victim – who lives locally – sustained significant injuries – including a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain.

Hall, of Tellcroft Close, Corsham, and Gal, of Larkham Rise, Chippenham, will appear at Swindon Crown Court on 31 March for a plea and trial preparation hearing. They were released on unconditional bail.

If convicted, grievous bodily harm with intent carries a maximum sentence of up to life imprisonment.
