A driver has crashed into a signpost in bid to evade police near Chippenham.
Officers were driving along the A4 Chequers Hill when they spotted a red Vauxhall Astra they were looking for travelling in the opposite direction.
Eager to stop the vehicle, they turned around and attempted to catch up with it.
However, the driver had other ideas and took a sharp turn at the crossroads and hit a signpost.
The occupants of the vehicle proceeded to flee the crash scene – but were swiftly detained.
Officers carried out a drugs search of the car, but nothing of note was located.
The driver – who is said to have only a provisional licence – was reported for failing to stop at a road traffic collision, driving otherwise in accordance with a license and driving without insurance.
