Driver missing after car hits tree and overturns on Wiltshire route

A driver is missing after a car hit a tree and overturned on a Wiltshire route.

Police are urgently trying the locate a person who left the scene of a ‘significant’ crash on the A303 near Chicklade on Tuesday morning (28 May).

A red Mini Cooper careered off the road before ploughing into a tree and overturning sometime between 7am and 7.30am.

Officers are most concerned about the welfare of the driver, who is believed to need medical attention – but hasn’t checked into local hospitals.

PC Daniel Laurie, from the Roads Policing Unit said: “This collision caused significant damage and we have concerns about the drivers welfare, who was not at the scene when we arrived.

“From the damage to the vehicle we are concerned that they will need medical attention.

“We have made a number of enquiries including checks with local hospitals and would urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible.”
