A suspected drink driver was detained by witnesses in Swindon this afternoon (Saturday).
Members of the public called the police to report the incident in Great Western Way, near Transfer Bridges, when the driver attempted to flee the scene.
The suspect was then detained on the ground by other motorists ahead of officers’ arrival.
He reportedly provided a sample of breath at the roadside, with a reading of 133 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35 microgrammes.
The suspect has since been arrested and is now in custody at Gablecross Police Station.
It comes just 24 hours after members of the public bravely detained a knifeman in Swindon town centre.
