Dozens of police officers and enforcement agents have attended a private car park in central Swindon this morning following a traveller invasion.

A group of around 20 caravans and motorhomes moved into the Oasis Leisure Centre’s main front car park at around 1am today, promoting urgent action to remove them.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We are aware of the travellers at the Oasis and they have indicated that they will move on later today.

“We are liaising with the owners of the site and have officers there to monitor the situation.”

All but one vehicle was left at the site by 1pm this afternoon.
