Police have launched a probe after a dog was hit and killed by a car in Cirencester.

A vehicle struck the pet as it was being walked on a lead on the A417 Grove Lane at around 5.10pm on Wednesday 8 November.

During the incident near the Norman Arch Gate House entrance for the Abbey Grounds, the driver failed to stop at the scene.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire Constabulary said: “There was traffic in the area and officers are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened, has dashcam footage or any other information which could assist with enquiries.”

You can provide information to police by completing a form online and quoting incident 402 of 8 November. Alternatively, call 101.”
