Police issued a dispersal order at a park in Swindon last night after teenagers were seen gathering there.

Officers were called to Stray Park in Tadpole Garden Village where they forced the youths — who were engaging in anti-social behaviour as well as ignoring the new lockdown laws — to leave the area.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Following reports of a group of teenagers acting in an anti social manner and not adhering to the Government’s request to stay at home, a Section 35 dispersal order is now in place.

“This order has been put in place to prevent further acts of anti social behaviour or group gatherings at the park and allows PC’s and PCSO’s the power to direct persons to leave the area. Failure to comply with the notice to leave is a criminal offence and can carry a punishment of a fine or imprisonment.

“The power to direct persons to leave will only be used where people are gathering in groups and/or acting in an anti social manner. Local residents will still be able to use the park for the once a day exercise.”
