Detectives launched an investigation after a man was found dead at at collage hotel.

A number of ambulances were first to attend The Landmark Hotel in Chiseldon, near Swindon, at shortly before 4pm this afternoon (Monday).

Police attended the scene soon after and detectives began knocking on doors, visiting local residents asking if they had seen or heard anything.

One man, who lives nearby, said he’d been “interviewed by CID asking where I was this afternoon and if I heard anything unusual”.

Commenting in our Wiltshire 999s Incident Alerts group on Facebook, he added that a private ambulance arrived later, which would “suggest removal of a body”.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We were called at just before 4pm today (14/12) to a sudden death of a man aged in his 50s at this address.

”There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

”Our colleagues from the [South Western] Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

”A file will be prepared on behalf of H M Coroner for Wiltshire.”
