A councillor has been killed in a serious incident on his farm near Malmesbury.
Police were called to Church Farm in Little Somerford on Wednesday 10 September.
Farmer and parish councillor Robert Simmons was found deceased under heavy machinery.
Wiltshire 999s understands that the man, aged in his 60s, was crushed by a topper – a rotary cutting attachment towed by a tractor used to mow grass.
It’s thought that Mr Simmons was cleaning or inspecting the topper, which was raised by straps on a telehandler, when it fell on him.
Wiltshire Police attended the scene, with detectives ruling the death non-suspicious.
“Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time’, a spokesperson for the force said.
