A Coastguard helicopter has this evening landed at a country park in Swindon.

Emergency services are currently in attendance of a serious ongoing incident at Mouldon Hill Country Park off Thamesdown Drive.

At least two ambulances, two Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) units and rapid response vehicles are at the scene.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service has resources at the incident, and Wiltshire Police officers are also present.

The Coastguard helicopter was tasked to the incident from its base at Lee-on-Solent, near Portsmouth, shortly after 8.05pm. It landed in a field at the back of the park at around 8.30pm.

The nature of the ongoing incident remains unknown, but we have approached all three emergency services for comment.

UPDATE 9PM: The Coastguard has airlifted a casualty to the Great Western Hospital for treatment.

UPDATE 9.40PM: Wiltshire Police has released a statement on the incident.

“We were called at about 5.15pm this evening (05/05) by a member of the public reporting an elderly man who appeared to have been in difficulty in the lake at Mouldon Hill Country Park in Swindon.

“Ambulance paramedics treated him at the scene and kept him warm before a coastguard helicopter was able to transport him to hospital where he will undergo medical assessment.”
