A lorry has been severely damaged after a railway bridge strike in a Chippenham.
Police were called to the scene in Lowden at around 12.30pm this afternoon (27 August) following reports of the road traffic collision.
A small U-Drive hire lorry carrying wedding supplies, including a dance floor, smashed into the bridge in an attempt to squeeze through.
Wiltshire Police has closed the road in both directions whilst recovery is organised.

Mainline trains in and out of Chippenham railways station are travelling at a greatly reduced speed whilst the incident is ongoing.
The road is expected to remain closed between Bath Road and Palmer Street for several hours.
Nobody has been injured in the crash.

The lorry has been recovered from under the bridge – the road is likely to reopen before 2.45pm.
