A Chippenham festival was cancelled this weekend after three security guards who were booked to cover the event were killed in a road traffic collision.
According to event organisers, ChippFest was unable to take place due to not having enough security staff to cover it following the devastating incident.
The serious crash is understood to have happened in Manchester earlier this week; three people died and one was seriously injured.
ChippFest was due to take place over the weekend, mainly at John Coles Park.
Expressing sadness, a spokesperson for ChippFest said: “Despite an all night effort to get a qualified team to replace them we were forced to cancel. No security no event.
“I appreciate people want to know [why the event was cancelled] but I am more concerned with the people who have died and their colleagues and families.”
Chippenham firm Security Watch, who were hired to provide the security, confirmed that the security staff were from an outside agency and cannot comment further at this stage.
