A cat was shot twice in a Wiltshire village – police have launched an investigation.
Officers are probing the incident in Stapleford, which left a 11-month-old half-Maine Coon named Dougal serious injured last month.

In a statement, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Sometime between 24th and 26th July, Dougal was sadly shot twice by what is thought to be an air rifle in Stapleford, northwest of Salisbury.
“The incident has left Dougal with a bullet lodged just below his spine, which the vet is unable to remove.
“This is an awful offence against a defenceless animal and we are really keen to hear from anyone who may be able to assist us with the investigation.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact us by emailing [email protected] quoting reference number 54260090371.”
