A car transporter has shed its load in a crash with a railway bridge in Trowbridge.
Emergency services were called to the road traffic collision in Westbury Road – which links North Bradley with Yarnbrook – at around 3.30pm today (Monday).
At least two cars have been damaged alongside the lorry – but further details about what happened are unclear at this stage. It’s believed both cars fell from the transporter.
A second crash has blocked the Hawkeridge Road roundabout at the junction for Phillips Way.
Nobody is believed to have been seriously injured in the incident, but there are significant traffic delays in the area.
The train line between Trowbridge and Westbury was whilst the bridge is assessed for damage. The railway reopened shortly before 5.30pm.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Westbury Road is currently closed between the Budgens roundabout and Yarnbrook roundabout following a coliison involving a lorry and car shortly after 3.30pm.
“The road is likely to remain closed for several hours so we would urge drivers to seek an alternative route if possible.”
