The driver of a car who crashed head-on into a minibus on the A350 ‘had a heart attack at the wheel’, according to a source close to her.
The woman, aged in her 50s and from Chippenham, was driving a SsangYong Rexton when she crashed near Lacock on Tuesday morning (21 October).
A significant amount of emergency services were sent to the scene, including Great Western Air Ambulance Charity in a rapid response vehicle.

The driver of the SsangYong sustained life-threatening injuries, as did a passenger in the minibus – a woman aged in her 40s.
While an investigation into the cause of the collision is underway by Wiltshire Police, a source close to the driver of the car says she suffered a “heart attack”.
Driving and dealing with a medical episode caused her to veer into the path of the minibus, it’s claimed. She remains in a medically-induced coma in hospital.
The source spoke out after comments on social media – from so-called armchair experts – said that she had been overtaking.
In a statement at the time, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “Two individuals are in a life-threatening condition following a two-vehicle collision on Corsham Road, Lacock, this morning (21 October).
“At approximately 9:30am, a car collided with a minibus taxi near Whitehall Garden Centre.
“The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, and a passenger in the taxi, a woman in her 40s, have both been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
“The driver of the taxi has also been taken to hospital as a precaution.
“Road closures are currently in place while emergency services attend the scene.
