UPDATE: Calne school incident: Police find man and confirm ‘no wrongdoing’
A Calne school has issued a warning after a man reportedly approached a pupil.
In a letter to parents, a Kingsbury Green Academy spokesperson said that an “unknown male acting suspiciously around the school car park” before “approaching one of our students”.
The incident, which happened on Thursday 6 February, has been reported to Wiltshire Police.
Children are being advised to walk to and from school in in groups, and avoid dark routes.
The news comes after a string of incidents involving children or women being approached by men in Chippenham in concerning circumstances in recent weeks.
The letter read: “We have had a report yesterday of an unknown male acting suspiciously around the school car park and approaching one of our students in front of the leisure centre.
“This has been reported and the Police are investigating, and will be patrolling the area. If you see anything which concerns you please do report it to the police.
“We would like to remind parents and students that they should be vigilant and aware of their surroundings at all times on their journeys to and from school.
“We would encourage those that walk home to do so in groups and to ensure that they take appropriate precautions such as walking main well-lit routes and avoiding short-cuts.”
