A boy has been arrested after a Swindon school was force into lockdown.
Police rushed to reports of an incident involving a weapon at Dorcan Academy this afternoon (Wednesday).
Pupils were locked in their classrooms and told to move away from the doors – as teachers worked to keep them safe.
A parent told Wiltshire 999s that her daughter was told that a male had made threats with a weapon.
They claim students were “huddled in the back of the room thinking they were going to die”.
Wiltshire Police, in a statement, said that a 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon – believed to be a pole.
The spokesperson added: “The school was put into lockdown as a precaution and there were no reports of any injuries.
“We do not believe there to be any further risk.”
