A boy has been airlifted to hospital after a bike crash in a Wiltshire woods.
Emergency services responding to the serious incident near Dundus Aquaduct, west of Bradford on Avon, at around 10.15am on Sunday (4 January).
A child, a boy whose age has not been confirmed, sustained serious injuries in the Conkwell Wood area after crashing a mountain bike.
Due to the terrain, the incident sparked a significant 999 response – with Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance and an ambulance Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) sent.
Numerous police officers, an ambulance crew and an ambulance operations officer also attended the scene.
The boy, who was reportedly with his mother, was located and treated before being put on a stretcher and carried along the tree-lined hillside and to the nearby helicopter.
He was then airlifted to the Royal United Hospital in Bath for further care. The exact nature of his injuries are unclear, but Wiltshire Police said they are not life-changing.
The child is believed to have been out with his family and was not taking part in an organised event.
