A body has been found at a popular Wiltshire park as police search for a missing man.
Officers were hunting for 33-year-old Edward Wyles, who disappeared from Amesbury in late January.
At around 9.30am this morning (Saturday), a body was located at Churchill Gardens, off Churchill Road in Salisbury.
Whilst formal identification has not yet been carried out, police believe it to be that of missing Edward. His family have been informed of the development.
Wiltshire Search and Rescue (WILSAR) were in attendance at the scene, and appeared to be focused on the River Avon – with specially trained volunteers spotted in boats.
In a statement, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “A police-led team searching for missing person Edward Wyles, 33, have located a body in Churchill Gardens, Salisbury shortly after 9.30am today (18/03).
“Formal identification of the body has yet to take place and local officers have informed Edward’s next of kin of the latest development.
“Our thoughts are with Edward’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time and we ask that their privacy is respected.”
