The body of a missing woman is believed to have been found in Devizes after more than two weeks.
53-year-old Victoria Clements disappeared from her home in the town on the afternoon of 22 September, around 16 days ago.
At around 2pm yesterday, Friday 8 October, police were seen to cordon off a footpath near the former slaughterhouse, on the corner of Coate Road and Windsor Drive.
Several police vehicles could be seen parked in a partially harvested field. The crop was being harvested before emergency services were called to the scene.
It’s believed Victoria’s body was located within the middle of the maise field, found by the farmer working on the land.
From Windsor Drive, crime scene investigation vans could be spotted at the scene as forensics recorded evidence and photographed the area.
Following the discovery, the Victoria Clements Search Group, a well-used Facebook group dedicated to the search for the missing Devizes woman was closed by her family.
Wiltshire Police says her next of kin has been informed, indicating that officers believed the body to be that of Victoria. Though the formal process of identification has not yet been undertaken.
“The family of missing Victoria Clements have been informed of the latest development”, a spokesperson said.
“However, formal identification has yet to take place at this time.
“Our thoughts are with the relatives and friends of the deceased person at this difficult time.”
