Wiltshire Police officers have been working with Trading Standards to tackle rogue traders in Royal Wootton Bassett.
PC Gassner, from the Royal Wootton Bassett Neighbourhood Policing Team, joined Trading Standards for a targeted operation in the town.
They attended the Sainsbury’s car park in Borough Fields and Sustain Farm Shop to speak with residents and provide advice on identifying and avoiding doorstep crime.
Officers also visited several homes in an area where a resident had recently been targeted by a rogue trader.
Homeowners were given information and guidance to help protect themselves from similar incidents.
Residents are being urged to remain vigilant if someone arrives unexpectedly claiming urgent work is required.
Police advise people to seek a second opinion or contact Trading Standards before agreeing to any work.
Concerns can be reported to Trading Standards on 0808 223 1133.
Wiltshire Police can be contacted on 101 or online for non-emergency matters. If a crime is in progress, always call 999.
