A pensioner was hit by two stolen mopeds in Swindon this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident in the Covingham Green area at shortly after 3pm following the road traffic collision which left an elderly woman injured.

The males were immediately detained by a number of dads who were on the school run.

Police arrived at the scene swiftly, arresting two teenage boys – aged 13 and 14 – on suspicion of dangerous driving and theft of a motor vehicle.

The youths remain in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

The woman believed to be in her 80s, was given first aid at the scene but remained laying on the pavement near Martinfield for some time waiting for an ambulance to arrive. She suffered head injuries and was bleeding heavily. Her condition is unknown.
