Armed police have raided a home in Swindon after a disorder involving weapons.

The police helicopter was deployed to assist officers on the ground following fight involving a number of people near Buckhurst Field shortly after 4pm yesterday (9 January).

Officers carried out extensive enquiries, which led to an address in Buckhurst Crescent being searched last night and class A drugs, cash and weapons being seized.

Four males were arrested for offences including affray and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

They include a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, and a 19-year-old and a 42-year-old man. All four remain in custody at Gablecross for questioning.

Det Chief Insp Joe Saunders said: “This incident happened at 4pm in the afternoon and was witnessed by members of the public.

“This is totally unacceptable behaviour and in line with the Chief Constable’s Force Priorities, we are absolutely committed to creating safer public spaces within our communities.

“We will not tolerate violent behaviour of this kind which causes others to feel intimidated or scared in their own neighbourhood.”
