A man has been arrested on suspicion of serious assault during a major operation to locate a shooting suspect in Swindon.
Armed officers and dog units raided a property in the Tadpole Garden Village area of the town yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
It follows the shooting of a man in Sackville Close, Walcot, on Thursday evening. He sustained a gunshot wound to his arm.
As a precaution, and because a firearm had been discharged previously, the officers were accompanied by two Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) ambulance crews.
A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. He is currently in police custody.
Late into the evening, officers carried out searches of the suspect’s property — as detectives attended the scene.
The same group of police, including the HART crews, also attended two other addresses — in Liden and Covingham — as part of the operation.
The National Police Air Service helicopter from Oxford also assisted local police, circling above addresses as officers raided them at gunpoint.
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Mawson said: “This was a highly concerning incident and we are actively pursuing a number of lines of enquiry.
“We continue to urgently appeal to anyone with information about this incident, which is thought to have taken place near Sackville Close, Swindon on 23 March.”
