An Amesbury man assaulted his girlfriend during their ‘toxic relationship’, a court heard.
Beckham Taylor, 25, pushed mother-of-two Kaysha Henderson over in the street in the early hours of 11 March this year, which caused her a minor head injury.
Prosecutor Kate Prince told Salisbury Magistrates’ Court that the pair had been out drinking together before the incident – which was caught on CCTV.
Footage caught on the camera was played in court. Miss Henderson could be heard shouting “stay away from me” before she’s pushed to the ground.
She screamed: “my head, my head”, “horrible c**t” and “get the f**k away from me” – before she ran to a nearby house for help. A woman answered the door and called the police.
Miss Henderson told officers that Taylor moved in with him during their relationship and was a “great father figure” to her children, but told of how it soon turned “toxic”.
Solicitor Bob Scott, defending, said the assault was an “unfortunate incident” in which his client “flipped out” and pushed Miss Henderson away from him – but accepts it was more force than was necessary.
He said Taylor phoned the police two hours later to check on her welfare and she invited him back to stay with her. The defendant looked after her children until she felt herself again.
“He’s very sorry”, Mr Scott said. Adding that it was “clearly not an intentional assault”.
The grounds maintenance worker, of Ringwood Avenue, Amesbury, admitted a charge of assault by beating and was handed 12-month community order. He must complete 40 hours of unpaid work.
A 12-month restraining order was also imposed – prohibiting contact with Miss Henderson.
