UPDATE: A4 crash: Cyclist in critical condition after being hit by motorbike
The A4 is closed as Wiltshire Police launch a probe into a serious crash.
Emergency services were called to a road traffic collision on the route at West Kennett, near Avebury, at around 5pm today (Wednesday).
The incident involved two vehicles – including a bicycle – on the junction for East Kennett, with two people sustaining serious injuries.
One casualty has been airlifted to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol by Wiltshire Air Ambulance for urgent care.
A forensic collision investigation is underway at the scene – with the A4 shut between Beckhampton and Fyfield.
The route is expected to remain closed until Thursday morning (12 September).
