The A4 be closed for the foreseeable future after strong winds bring down power lines.
Emergency services and the council are working to clear blocked roads as quickly as possible, but on the A4 in Box, it’s not quite as simple.
A tree toppled over and took out a number of power lines. This means specialist engineers will need to attend the scene.
The route between Box and Corsham is closed in both directions.
With Strome Eunice battering the southwest, it could be some time before the road can be cleared safely.
The downed power cables may also result in local electricity outages.
Wiltshire Police says the road is likely to remain closed for several hours.
“A4 Box towards Corsham tree and power cable down, road blocked”, a police spokesperson announced on social media.
