A man has been reported to the police over his treatment of a dog in Chippenham.
Footage taken by a woman at Bridge Centre Roundabout appears to show him kick the dog – thought to be a puppy – on the bottom when it decides not to walk.
It’s swiftly followed by a second, lighter, kick to the head. Moments later, the man is seen to lift the pet by its harness – before walking away with the animal under his arm.
The woman who saw the incident unfold from a nearby vehicle spoke of her upset.
She told Wiltshire 999s: “It’s very distressing to see and if he’s capable of doing that in public, who knows what he does to that poor dog in private.”
The witness has reported the alleged animal cruelty to Wiltshire Police.
A spokesperson for the force confirmed that it has “received a report from a member of the public regarding a video circulating in which a man abuses a dog”.
They added: “We are still in the early stages of our enquiries.”
