UPDATE: Suspected drink driver arrested after girl hit by car in Yatton Keynell
A girl is fighting for her life after being hit by a car near Chippenham overnight.
Emergency services were called to a serious crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in Yatton Keynell at around 12.15am this morning (Friday).
A 14-year-old girl was struck by a silver Volkswagen Bora in The Street, near Home Fields.
The youngster was rushed to Bristol Children’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries for urgent care. She remains in a critical condition.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that her immediate family have been informed.
Locals reported seeing around ten police vehicles on scene at around 12.30am, along with two ambulances and two fire engines.
The road is closed in both directions for forensic collision investigation work – and isn’t expected to reopen until this afternoon.
Closures are in place between Biddestone Lane and Church Farm.
