Ten cats have been caged and then dumped in Wiltshire without food or water.
The RSPCA responded to a call from a member of the public at around 2.30pm today (Friday).
Volunteers from the charity’s Wiltshire-Mid Branch raced to the scene on Salisbury Plain – between Bulford and Tidworth – to rescue the starving cats.
Ten cats were found abandoned in cages in the blazing sunshine, with no access to food or water.

They are said to be in poor condition – filthy and unwell – and are now receiving the required care.
A spokesperson for RSPCA Wiltshire-Mid Branch said: “We don’t usually work in this area but we couldn’t turn them away!
“Do you recognise these crates or cats? They’re quite distinctive. These cats were dumped with no food or water in this heat.
“Luckily members of the public on a walk found these poor cats. They are filthy and unwell and we will now have a long road ahead of us to help them.
“Please message us, all communication will be confidential. Thank you.”
The charity has urged anyone with information to contact them, as an investigation into who dumped them is launched.

Editor’s note: The RSPCA has updated their statement, confirming that ten cars were found – not nine as first believed. We have updated the article to reflect this.
