A pervert who installed a spy camera in a Chippenham family’s bathroom has avoided prison.

Pest controller Allan Ogg was hired to rid a house of rats, but instead used the opportunity to secretly film one of the occupants – a woman – showering.

The 65-year-old, of Overbrook Road in Hardwicke, Gloucester, told the family that he needed to install a ‘radar device’, which would scare vermin away.

However, one of the householders thought the device looked a “bit strange”. They removed it from the wall to inspect it, making a disturbing discovery.

A small lens and SD card slot were discovered. They put the SD card into a computer and opened the files – only to find it had been filming activities in their family bathroom.

Ogg pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism, which took place in the summer of 2022, at Swindon Crown Court on 4 December 2024.

Returning to the same court for sentencing on 15 January, he was slapped with a community order.

He must complete 150 hours of unpaid work in the community and 30 rehabilitation activity days with the probation service.

Ogg was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years. His camera and SD card will be destroyed.

The Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence in relation to two further charges of voyeurism arising from the same camera – relating to an adult male and young boy.

The defendant has previous convictions for animal cruelty in 2008 and 2013. They relate to his work as a poultry farmer in Calne.

He was given a suspended prison sentence and was banned from keeping birds.
