Wiltshire Police says it’s ready to act over a planned Christmas car meet.

Two groups, Wiltshire Car Scene and Smokey Car Scenes, have organised the ‘last meet of the year’ – according to posts on Snapchat.

Organisers have told people who want to attend the Christmas-themed meet that the location would be confirmed at 6pm today (Sunday).

They also warned followers about the police, stating: “In order for tonight to not go to shit everyone needs to be on point meaning… don’t be hanging around Swindon in known locations making it bait.

Adding: “Make sure you get to the locations ASAP. If police turn up everyone stays put until new location up.”

In response, Wiltshire Police has made it clear they won’t tolerate a disruptive car meet.

A spokesperson said: “We recognise that genuine car enthusiasts do so lawfully and in a manner that does not cause upset to local residents. For those who are inclined to attend, please expect to see a proportionate policing presence.

“Some groups, however, are deliberately disruptive and cause significant concern within our communities. We will not tolerate anybody taking part in disruptive car meets in Wiltshire and those involved will be dealt with robustly.

“Specialist police and partnership resources are in place to support this approach, if required and we will take any action necessary to prevent dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour. If individuals take the risk of driving dangerously, they could face severe consequences, including seizure of their vehicles and arrest.

“If anyone has concerns or information on criminal activity please contact us on 101 or 999 in an emergency.
