A man who ‘poses a risk’ to Swindon sex workers has avoided a jail sentence – after breaching a Sexual Risk Order (SRO) on two occasions.
A court order prohibited Sean Morris from entering Broadgreen between 5.30pm and 7am daily after concerns were raised about his behaviour towards women.
The 58-year-old, of Massinger Walk, Walcot, was slapped with the SRO in February 2023 – but has since committed two breaches of the civil order.
Despite having never been convicted of a sexual offence, the order placed restrictions on his liberty to protect other members of the public – namely sex workers.
However, Morris committed a criminal offence by breaching the SRO on 31 August and 12 September.
At Swindon Magistrates’ Court on 25 October, he was given a 40-week prison sentence suspended for 18 months. Further offending is likely to result in immediate custody.
PC Katie Owers said: “Morris poses a particular risk to vulnerable women and sex workers.
“We secured this court order following a large amount of intelligence given to us by these women and partner agencies.
“It is vital that anyone who has concerns about someone’s behaviour to let us know so that we can protect those vulnerable individuals.
