Detectives have launched an investigation after a sex attack in Swindon town centre.

Emergency services are believed to have attended Queen Street in the early hours of this morning (Saturday) after a woman was found injured and distressed.

Police cordoned off the pedestrianised area – which links Fleet Street and Carr Street.

An alleyway, which runs between Jack Spice and Audio T, has also been cordoned off.

The Waiting Room manager Roland Hughes said the incident was not related to the nearby pub, which remains open as normal today.

In a statement, a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said: “Officers investigating an alleged sexual assault have cordoned off an area of Swindon town centre between Fleet Street and Carr Street.

“We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area in the early hours this morning, September 7, who may have seen anything suspicious.”

They added: “If you were there, or may have further information that could help, please call us on 101 quoting log 62 of today’s date (07/09).

“Alternatively you can leave information anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
