Locals are ‘in fear’ after a mystery crime scene appeared in Swindon at the weekend.

Police were guarding a car park between High Street and Hoopers Place in Old Town from the early hours of Sunday (11 August).

A crime scene was established, and officers watched over the area for many hours.

But Wiltshire Police say they’re “working to establish if anything took place” – suggesting that someone made an allegation or reported a potential crime.

Wiltshire 999s didn’t receive a response when the force was asked what the initial report was.

“A girl was raped on the other side of the road a few weeks back, yet the police won’t tell us anything”, a local resident said.

In the previous incident, on 30 June, a woman reported being raped in the Dammas Lane short stay car park, opposite the Kioki nightclub – just a few metres from the new scene.

“We’re really worried and a bit scared about it. Over the past few years this place has gone downhill and isn’t safe over the weekend when the clubs are open”, they added.
