A youth has been arrested after an alleged burglar was stabbed at a house in Bath.

Emergency services were called to a serious incident unfolding at an address in Banwell Road, Odd Down, shortly before 9pm on Wednesday (3 January).

A woman was taken to hospital having sustained head injuries in an attack.

A man, aged in his 40s, is understood to have been stabbed before fleeing the scene – sparking an urgent search in the area.

The National Police Air Service helicopter from Bristol was tasked to assist and the suspect was located in the Moorlands area.

He was arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and assault. He remains in custody this morning (Thursday).

A youth, whose sex and age have not been confirmed by police, was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. He was released on bail as the investigation continues.

Officers remain guarding house, which appears to have blood smeared on the wall, and forensic work is expected to be undertaken throughout today.

Avon and Somerset Constabulary said that nobody sustained life-changing or life-threatening injuries in what is being described as a “domestic incident”.

A spokesperson added: “Residents may see an increased police presence in the area while enquiries continue.

“If you have any information about what happened and have yet to speak to officers, please call 101 and give the reference 5224002448.”
