A woman has been stabbed during a burglary in Swindon – as police arrest two men.

Police were called to an aggravated burglary in Verwood Close, Park North, yesterday afternoon (29 November).

At around 1.05pm, two men entered a property and attacked victim, a woman in her 30s, with a knife – inflicting stab wounds. She remains in hospital for treatment at this time.

They have then searched the house, stealing personal items, before fleeing.

Police at the scene shortly after the stabbing

Following local enquiries and reports from members of the public, the two suspects – both aged in their 20s – were located at a nearby address in Swindon and arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

They remain in custody for questioning.

Investigating officer DS Rob Prout from our dedicated Burglary team said: “This brazen offence was committed in broad daylight, leaving the victim requiring hospital treatment.

“Following swift work from officers and reports from members of the public, we have arrested two men on suspicion of aggravated burglary.

“We understand how traumatic burglaries can be – that’s why it is a Force priority and we have dedicated teams to tackle it.”
