A man was hospitalised in a stabbing in Swindon yesterday evening (Thursday, 24 November).

Emergency services were called to Dulverton Avenue, Park North, at around 6.50pm after the victim sustained knife wounds during an attack in the street.

Ambulance crews and air ambulance critical care medics provided urgent care to the man, aged in his 20s, before rushing him to hospital for further treatment.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that his injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

Officers cordoned off Dulverton Avenue, with an inner cordon set up around Malmesbury Gardens – where the probe appears to be focused.

Forensic investigators were swiftly deployed to the crime scene, arriving at 8.30pm and immediately beginning to gather evidence in the area.

They placed numerous yellow markers on the ground as a blood trail was followed, and another investigator photographed the street.

The cordon was lifted at around 5.30am this morning (Friday).

In a statement shortly after the incident, a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: “We have set up a cordon in Dulverton Avenue, Park North, following a stabbing.

“At around 6.50pm this evening, we received a report that a man in his 20s had suffered knife injuries in a serious assault.

“He has been taken to hospital with injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening.”

They added: “A scene has been put in place in Dulverton Avenue near Malmesbury Gardens and is likely to remain in place well into the night.

“Officers are currently carrying out extensive enquiries into the assault and residents are likely to see an increased police presence in the area while we investigate.”
