UPDATE: Swindon cycle path stabbing probe ongoing as new details revealed

A teenage boy has been stabbed in attack on a cycle path near a Swindon park.

Emergency services were called to the serious assault on Route 45, that passes the rear of Shaw Forest Park, shortly before 6pm this evening (Monday).

Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance attended in a helicopter whilst Great Western Air Ambulance attended in a critical care car.

The victim, whose age has not yet been confirmed, is understood to have been rushed to Southmead Hospital in Bristol by land ambulance for urgent treatment.

Wiltshire Police say he sustained stab wounds but confirmed that his condition is not described as life-threatening.

The path, linking Westmead with Thamesdown Drive on the 219-mile long Route 45 National Cycle Network route, has been cordoned off for forensic investigation work.

Following the incident, armed police were spotted attending an address in Crawford Close – thought to be linked to the stabbing.

If you saw what happened, or have information that can help with police enquiries please call 101 or 999 in an emergency quoting log 220 of today (24 July).
