A teen driver was airlifted to hospital in a critical condition following a crash on the A4.
Four people – including a young child – were injured in a reportedly head-on road traffic collision on Box Road, near Ashley, Box, at around 7pm yesterday (Friday, 14 July).
Emergency services, including Wiltshire Air Ambulance, attended the scene – which was located just 20 metres from the county border with Somerset.
The incident involved a blue Ford Fiesta and a silver Mazda. Both cars sustained significant front-end damage in the impact.
The driver of the Ford, a 17-year-old boy, suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to to the Major Trauma Centre at Southmead Hospital in Bristol. He is currently in a stable condition and his family are aware.
Three people were travelling in the Mazda – two men and a primary school-aged child. All three sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
The busy route, linking Bath with Chippenham, was closed between Box and Batheaston/Bathford for 11 hours as Wiltshire Police carried out forensic collision investigation work and recovered the vehicles.
The road reopened at around 6am this morning (Saturday).
