A man’s been arrested after allegedly stalking a schoolgirl over a two-month period.

Police in Chippenham have been investigating reports of incidents involving a 12-year-old in the area multiple times in February and March.

It’s claimed a man followed the youngster home from school in the Queens Crescent and Cepen Park South areas.

Following “extensive enquiries”, a suspect, aged in his 40s, was arrested this morning (Wednesday) and remains in custody for questioning.

Sgt Jamie Ball said: “I hope news of this arrest provides reassurance to the community that we take reports of this nature extremely seriously. If you wish to report an incident please do not hesitate to call us.”
