GALLERY: Man shot in Swindon home – police comb scene for evidence

Police have been combing the scene of a shooting in Swindon for evidence today (Friday).

A man, aged in his 40s, attended the hospital with a gunshot wound to his arm at around 9.15pm yesterday evening (Thursday 23 March).

Wiltshire Police were made aware and immediately launched an investigation into events – understood to be led by the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).

Officers sealed off a house in Sackville Close, Walcot, in the early hours of this morning, and forensic work and searches have been carried out throughout the day.

There’s been a large police presence in the cul-de-sac since the early hours of this morning – with armed police first attending, followed by local officers and forensic investigators.

Mid-afternoon, a specially-trained police search team attended the scene to comb for evidence – both in the street, neighbour’s gardens and inside the house.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: “We have launched an investigation after a man suffered a potentially life-changing injury to his arm in an incident near Sackville Close, Swindon, yesterday evening (23/03).

“The victim, a man in his 40s, presented himself at hospital at around 9.15pm with a gunshot wound to his arm, where he was treated for his injury.

“We are still in the early stages of our investigation and our enquiries are ongoing. No arrests have currently been made.

“A scene is currently in place in Sackville Close and members of the public are likely to see an increased police presence in the area while we investigate.
