A woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an incident at a Swindon hotel.

Police were called to the Jury’s Inn, in Fleming Way, by a member of staff who reported that a customer attended the reception area covered in blood.

Officers attended the scene and located a man with blood all over his face, claiming that he had been attacked by his girlfriend in their hotel room.

He alleged that the woman repeatedly punched him in the face and kicked him after he fell to the floor.

As a result, his blood was “splattered across the walls” – according to Wiltshire Police. Officers also found a number of the man’s belongings in a bathtub full of water.

The man sustained a broken nose, soreness to his chest, legs, ribs and groin and a lump on his head.

His girlfriend was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. She has since been released on conditional bail.

At Swindon Magistrates’ Court this morning (Monday), the force applied for a domestic violence protection order (DVPO) to prohibit the woman from contact with the alleged victim.

An officer told the bench that “alcohol is ultimately the problem” before reeling off a number of previous incidents police had been called to – mostly assaults of a similar nature. The court heard that neither party support a prosecution.

“It doesn’t sound like a very constructive relationship”, the chair of the bench Clive Lawton said. He went on to grant the DVPO for 28 days.

The order prohibits the woman from contacting the man directly or indirectly and from going within 100 metres of his residence.
