A Wiltshire soldier accused of mowing two pedestrians down is due to appear in court.

Cameron David Bailey, 25, is charged with two counts of grievous bodily harm with intent after a man and woman were struck by a vehicle in Fisherton Street, Salisbury.

The incident happened on Sunday evening (27 March), where it’s alleged the defendant deliberately drove a Skoda Octavia at the pair near the junction with North Street.

Bailey, of Mooltan Barracks, Tidworth, will appear before Salisbury Magistrates’ Court today.

He is also charged with driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

The victims were injured and taken to hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Though the extent of their injuries is not yet known.

A crime scene was in place until Monday afternoon (28 March), with a forensic investigator working at the scene for several hours.

In a statement yesterday, DI Dean Garvin said: “This is a deeply concerning incident in which a vehicle appears to have been deliberately driven at pedestrians.

“Two people were injured and taken to hospital. Their injuries could have easily have been much, much worse.

“We are asking members of the public to contact us if you were in the area of Fisherton Street, Salisbury at about 9.45pm yesterday (27/03) and witnessed what took place.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of a Blue Skoda driving around Salisbury City Centre late last night.”

If you can help, please call Wiltshire Police on 101 quoting log 305 of 27 March.
